The great actor/rapper Snoop, Calvin Broadus, Dogg has always been a personal hero of mine. No other rapper has been able to carve such a distinct niche in hip hop's diverse and expansive history as Snoop Dogg. That is until I found out about his “record”. According to the British Broadcasting Company on November 29, 2006, he was arrested for a weapons and drug charge right after an interview with Jay Leno. This was after he had been quoted as saying, “It's so easy for a kid to join a gang, to do drugs, we should make it that easy to be involved in football and academics.” Yes, it seems that Mr. Snoop Dogg isn’t setting the perfect example for the youth today and it’s not just him. In today’s world of popular culture, media, family values and yes even politics, contradictions seem to happen often. We are often told one thing and yet still seem to see the opposite of what was said. So when presented with the topic of, “it takes more than just saying no” I wasn’t surprised that this logo, which has been brought to my attention since grade school isn’t effectively working and why should it?
